Halloween is coming...

Yes, it's time to decide what outfit Melon will wear.  Unfortunately for Melon, his Halloween cards have proven popular which means that there will be a 2010 edition.  In leaner years, Melon's Halloween disguise was much simplerhe just used his natural talents instead of a costume.

Melon's famous "dead possum" pose.

Then came the Pumpkin era:

Pumpkins sort of suited Mel for awhile. They're orange, he's orange, they're round, he's round, they tend to go splat when dropped, he tends to go splat when he falls off the couch.

But, sadly, that era came to an end:

People were mistaking him for a sausage.

This one's for the ladies. . .

... the Red Beanbag Ladies, that is.
We call this his Sports Illustrated  centerfold pose.
(Note strategically placed football.)

Yep, here's the Mel in all his Gator glory.  The shirt is for a medium size dog, BTW.  I had intended to do a card with Melon in a University of Tennessee shirt and have him try to crash a tail-gating party by claiming to be Phil Fulmer, but then Tennessee got this skinny little coach and the jig was up.

I have to say the shirt fit better a couple of years ago.

Alternately, we thought we could pass him off as Uga, the University of Georgia's bulldog mascot.  My vet volunteered that she had a UGA shirt for her dog Melon could borrow.
Then she remembered that her dog is a dachshund.

Home buying, feline style

"Hmm. . . yes, I think that castle might be suitable.  Does it have central heat and air?" ~Nuit
